Rian Johnson is an American Filmaker. Johnson’s upcoming movie, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2022. The movie is a sequel to Knives Out.

1. Knives Out 

Knives Out is a 2019 American mystery movie written and directed by Rian Johnson. The movie follows a master detective, Benoit Blanc, investigating the death of a patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. The movie has its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2019. Knives Out grossed $311.4 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. The movie stars Daniel Crag, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Christopher Plummer. It was chosen as one of the top ten movies of 2019 by the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review.

2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a 2017 American epic space opera film written and directed by Johnson. It grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2017. Kylo Ren’s character in the film is an artfully written antagonist. The holographic images, digital effects, and the sacrifice of Luke Skywalker is a re-imagining of Yoda’s teachings that ends the movie on an ambiguous yet hopeful note. 

3. Looper

Looper is a 2012 American science fiction action-thriller movie. It centers on present-day contract killers known as “loopers” who are employed by criminal organizations from the future to kill individuals they have transported back in time. Loopers was selected as the opening movie of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels, and Bruce Willis. 

4. The Brothers Loom

The Brothers Loom is a 2008 American caper comedy-drama. The story of the film centers around the con artist brothers Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) and Bloom (Adrien Brody), who carry out a scheme to steal the fortune of the wealthy heiress Penelope Stamp (Rachel Weisz), who ends up joining the gang.

5. Brick 

The movie is Johnson’s directorial debut. The detective story of the movie is set in a suburb of California. The title of the movie refers to a block of a heroine, compressed to the size and shape of a brick. The movie won the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
