1) Viepsa Arora:

Viepsa Arora, 20, is winning hearts on the internet with her soulful voice and Ukulele skills. From Lana Del Rey’s 2019 hit ‘Venice Bitch’ to an AR Rahman series, Viepsa has wooed her audience with both English and Hindi songs. Her latest cover version of ‘Woh Lamhe, Woh Yaadein’ was viewed 2,500 times on YouTube within 24 hours and received more than 7,500 likes on Instagram. Viepsa’s ‘Jashn-e-bahara’ has more than thirty thousand views on YouTube. 

2) Avanti Nagral:

A Mumbai and Boston-based musician, Avanti Nagral says she is on a mission to create music that challenges societal norms. Her music – in English, Hindi, Marathi and Punjabi – has a social narrative, mainly challenging patriarchy.

Avanti has a dual degree from Harvard University, Boston. Along with music, Avanti also runs a YouTube channel where she uploads videos about different aspects of her life and her experiences in a relatable manner. A video of Avanti and her grandmother having a comfortable conversation about sex says a lot about her aim to bridge the generational gap and challenge the taboos.

3) Janani Sings:

“I don’t believe in soulmates, but..” and then comes Janani’s melodious cover of ‘Aakhon mai teri’. The video on YouTube has been viewed more than one million times and by far is one of the most popular versions of the trend on Instagram. Janani Sings is based in Boston. She has 176 thousand followers on Instagram and her YouTube channel has more than 55 thousand subscribers. 

4) Raghav Meattle

Based in Mumbai, Raghav Meattle describes his music as ‘vocal first’. Raghav’s music mainly surrounds his vocals and the acoustic guitar. In 2018, he raised Rs 462,000 from 168 supporters for his eight-track debut album, through a crowdfunding campaign.

Raghav’s debut album ‘Songs From A Matchbox’ is about him coming to terms with the realities of being a full-time musician in a big city. The album was nominated as ne of the best albums of 2018 by Rolling Stone India. Raghav has been nominated for the Radio City Freedom Awards under the Best Pop Artist Category. He was a semi-finalist in the second season of The Stage.

5) Florence Vohera

Florence Vohera is a singer, performer and lyricist. Her ‘Inn aankhon ki masti ke’ collaboration with musician Anshuman Sharma was viewed by more than 41 thousand times on Instagram. She has performed in many live shows and also runs a YouTube channel.

When Florence reached 100 thousand subscribers, she thanked her followers for being her strength and support in her musical journey. She also thanked her father for being her inspiration.
