Johnny Depp’s defamation suit filing against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, has brought to the forefront a series of alleged falsehoods that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor claims were promoted by the actress. In his 22-page-long detailed declaration submitted to the circuit court of Fairfax County, Virginia, Depp asserts that Heard lied about various incidents, adding a new layer of complexity to their already contentious relationship.
One of the alleged lies revolves around an incident in 2009 when Heard was arrested for assaulting her ex-wife, Tasya Van Ree, at an airport. Depp’s declaration notes that Heard claimed the charges were dropped immediately, labeling it a trumped-up charge, and further suggested that the police officers were homophobic and misogynists. However, the arresting officer, Beverly Leonard, refuted this claim, emphasizing that the arrest was made due to an assault that occurred within a domestic relationship.
Depp also counters Heard’s account of an alleged incident in December 2015, where she claimed he had physically assaulted her to the point of breaking a bed and causing severe injuries. Depp’s statement is supported by multiple witnesses who testified that they saw Heard without any visible injuries the day after the alleged assault.
Another point of contention arises from the time when Depp severed a finger during an altercation with Heard. Depp accuses Heard of leaking fabricated stories to the media to conceal the truth, including one where he supposedly cut off his finger by punching a wall and another where he lost his finger while allegedly violently beating her.
Furthermore, Depp disputes Heard’s claims that he physically assaulted her during an argument in May 2016. He presents a different narrative, indicating that he threw a phone that landed far from her, but Heard proclaimed he hit her and screamed for him to stop hitting her.
Depp’s declaration also brings attention to an instance in which Heard submitted alleged hair evidence to the court, claiming Depp had assaulted her and pulled out clumps of her hair. Depp’s side argues that the hair clumps did not match, as evidenced by a comparison between the hair Heard submitted and a photograph taken by their former estate manager.
The emergence of these alleged falsehoods in Depp’s declaration highlights the complexity of their relationship. As the public awaits the documentary series Depp V Heard on Netflix, it’s evident that the narrative surrounding their legal dispute continues to evolve, promising an impartial and fresh perspective on the matter.
