This summer season, cuddle up with a bowl of popcorn for some serious chilling and scary horrors movies, as they are abundant this July. There’s plenty of movies in the store with “Fear Street”, the world of “The Purge expands”, “Son”, and “Meander”.

Here’s your complete checklist of new horror movies coming out this month.

Fear Street Trilogy

“Fear Street” Trilogy franchise is unlike any other, based on the books by R.L. Stine, “Fear Street”. It is a major trilogy with all three films coming out this month on Netflix. The first movie, “1994”, is about a teen protagonist dealing with a killer in their cursed town, whereas “1978”, the second film is more like Friday the13th with its summer camp setting. And the last film, “1666” looks to be the most different, taking its audiences back to Puritanical America.

SON

In the movie “SON”, Laura is put through a nightmare after strangers attempt to kidnap her son, David. To save her child, they must run for their lives, the movie takes another turn when the child becomes ill and Laura proceeds to do whatever it takes to keep him safe. The movie tests the boundaries of motherhood, as Laura tries to figure out how she can save her son and how far she is willing to go for David.  The movie premieres on July 8 on Shudder. 

Meander

The movie “Meander” is a scary film with a sci-fi twist, similar to movies like Saw. “Meander” finds a young woman who gets locked in a series of bizarre tubes filled with dangerous traps. The imagery in the trailer alludes to something scientifically disturbing, where she has to crawl into safe sections to survive, the movie is not for the faint-hearted.  The movie is scheduled to release in limited theatres and on VOD platforms on July 9.

Kandisha

“Kandisha” is like any other horror film, where a group of teenage friends enjoys their summer break and share plenty of scary stories. But as it always happens in a horror story, the fun does not last long, as one of the girls is assaulted and she turns into an urban legend in her hour of need. Summoning the demon, the film is a revenge tale that blends folklore with New French Extremity cinema, the movie premieres on July 22 on Shudder. 

32 Malasanã Street

“32 Malsana Street” is better at an abrasive cut than it is scaring you, and no horror movie list is complete without a haunted apartment. The movie set in 1976 Madrid, the story focuses on a family that moves into their new apartment, discovering that it is something disturbing about the place. And to make things more unsettling, this Spanish movie is inspired by real events. It will premiere on July 20 on DVD and digital.
