Kamaal Rashid Khan is a well-known Indian Bollywood actor, producer and writer. The Indian TV actor has been detained on August 30, following a disputed tweet he published two years ago that purported to hurt religious feelings. KRK’s comments on Laxmii Bomb

The Indian TV actor turned film critic found himself in hot waters when he criticised Akshay Kumar’s horror-thriller Laxmii Bomb in 2020.

He received severe public backlash and later deleted the tweet. However, the matter did not set well with the Shiv Sena’s youth wing member Rahul Kanwal, who later filed an FIR against the actor. Kanwal told the Indian Express, “Khan makes derogatory comments on social media and uses foul language. Such kind of behaviour is unacceptable in society. By arresting him, the Mumbai police have sent out a strong message against such people and no one would repeat this in future with any citizen.”

Khan has been booked under sections 500 and 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for defamation and promoting enmity between two groups for his comments on social media and under Section 67A of the IT Act for transmitting obscene content in electronic form.

Badmouthing Vikram Bhatt

KRK severely breached his boundaries when he decided to review Bhatt’s 1920: London and ended up criticising the filmmaker in an offensive manner. Vikram Bhatt swiftly brought a defamation lawsuit, which was soon followed by the actor’s public apology. Later, Vikram Bhatt applauded Khan’s courage to publicly apologize, and the issue was put to rest.

Jibes at Rishi Kapoor and Irfan Khan

The actor has made disparaging remarks in the past regarding the veteran actors –Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, who are no more. His tweet was also removed after receiving a lot of criticism.

In his tweet from 2020, he urged Rishi Kapoor “not to die” as the wine shops were ready to reopen following after pandemic. KRK stated in another tweet that the coronavirus cannot be eradicated without killing well-known individuals.

“Just on a serious note, I said few days ago that #Corona can’t go back without taking few famous people. I didn’t write names that time because people could have abused me. But I knew that Irfan and Rishi will go. And I know, who is the next one also”, KRK had tweeted.

Defamation case by Salman Khan

The self-proclaimed critic found himself locking horns with Salman Khan in 2021 when he accused the Bharat actor of corruption and money-laundering cases. The Bollywood actor’s legal team slapped KRK with a defamation suit post his claims.  

While KRK claimed it was because of his negative review of Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman’s lawyers asserted that it was because of the accusations of corruption and money laundering made against Salman.

Although KRK has frequently made fun of Salman in his tweets in the past, he waved the white flag to the actor and his crew in June 2021 by removing his videos regarding the star. 

Comments against Kapil Sharma

According to Mensxp reports, when then comedian Kapil Sharma was still making a name for himself in the industry back in 2014, KRK tweeted a joke about Nargis Fakhri being asked to co-star with Kapil in his first film with YRF. Kapil Sharma reacted angrily to KRK’s alleged “joke,” telling him to “@kamaalrkhan call me… If u have guts… I will show u… How to deal with a Punjabi guy.”

KRK also recently made headlines for his comments on Amir Khan’s latest release- Laal Singh Chadha and accusing Anushka Sharma of her husband, Virat Kohli’s apparent depression.
