After the 95th Academy Awards nominations were announced Tuesday morning, Rihanna was among the musicians nominated for best original song for the first time.
Rihanna was nominated for her song Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song, which was released in November, was Rihanna’s first original composition in many years, and she co-wrote it with director Ryan Coogler, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and Nigerian singer Tems.
Lady Gaga, a previous winner in this category for A Star Is Born, was also nominated for Top Gun: Maverick’s Hold My Hand, which she co-wrote with Bloodpop.
