The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, currently comprising over 10,000 members, selects the Oscar nominees and winners. Members are responsible for selecting nominees from their respective branch, such as actors voting for actors. However, for the best picture category, all members are eligible to cast their vote.
