Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has expressed grief over the death of former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and member of Rajya Sabha, Amar Singh.

Amitabh Bachchan posted a monochrome photo of himself  bowing down his head to mourn the loss. Along with the photo, on his blog, the actor shared a couplet for the leader. “Shok grasta, mastishka jhuka, prarthanaye keval rahi. Nikat praan, sambandh nikat, woh aatma nahi rahi (With my head bowed down, I am bereaved. Now, only prayers are left. A close soul, close to my heart, is not there anymore),” he captioned the photo.

He also shared the photo on his social media accounts.

The Bachchan family was once close to Amar Singh. In February this year, he shared a status for Amitabh on Twitter.

“Today is my father’s death anniversary & I got a message for the same from @SrBachchan ji. At this stage of life when I am fighting a battle of life & death I regret for my over reaction against Amit ji & family. God bless them all,” he wrote.

Singh was 64 at the time of his death. He was in a Singapore hospital where he had earlier undergone a second kidney transplant. His death was mourned across political parties, for his relationship with every leader.
