Fans have been speculation about Pugh, who is 26, and Braff’s, 47, relationship status for a long time. Especially because of their 21-year age gap. The former, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, said that the two have quietly ended their relationship earlier this year.

Neither Pugh or Braff addressed their split publicly or on social media.

“We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on,” Pugh said.

She, however, did not give a specific reason behind the breakup. The actor played Yelena Belova in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Widow in 2021. She had, in 2020, defended the age difference between the two with a lengthy statement on Instagram

“We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it,” the British actor told Harper’s Bazaar.

Pugh and Braff first met on a short film project In the Time It Takes to Get There in 2019. They also worked together on a feature film where Zach Braff was the director.  A Good Person is written and directed by Braff, with both Pugh and Braff producing it. The film also features Morgan Freeman and Molly Shannon, and is due to release in March 2023.

Talking about her sex scenes with Styles in Don’t Worry Darling, Pugh said, “When it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it. It’s not why I’m in this industry. Obviously, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re going to have conversations like that. That’s just not what I’m going to be discussing because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that.”
