The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday shared a video celebrating hope in times when everything seems going downhill. The video, which features clips from several movies, ends with one which has late actor Irrfan Khan– and that caught every Indian’s eyes.

Tweeting the video, The Academy wrote, “A celebration of hope—through the lens of movies we love.” The montage celebrates inspiring moments from popular films like The ‘Shawshank Redemption’, ‘Parasite’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Interstellar’, The ‘Martian’ and ‘Children of Men’ among others. Starting with Al Pacino’s iconic courtroom scene from ‘ The Scent of Woman’ about ‘containing a spirit’, the montage moves on to other films. In one, Chadwick Boseman talks about finding “a way to look after one another” in ‘Black Panther’.

But what made Indian’s emotional is the appearance of Irrfan Khan. At the end of the montage, a clip from his movie, ‘Life of Pi’, is shown where the interviewer asks him if his story had a happy ending. To this, he replies, “Well that’s up to you.”

Comments poured in shortly after this came to notice. Actor Nimrat Kaur, who shared the screen with Irrfan in ‘The Lunchbox’ retweeted, “A heavy heart smiles with the last frame. Such a rich, moving collage. #IrrfanForever.”

Filmmaker Aseem Chhabra wrote, “This is so beautiful – celebration of the sense of hope and ending with #IrrfanKhan’s smiling face!”

Irrfan Khan died on April 29 this year in a Mumbai hospital after battling with a neuroendocrine tumour for two years.
