What does the term ‘Y+ category security’ mean for Kangana?

Y+ security to the actor, according to PTI, means that an intelligence agency has shared information about a specific threat that concerns her.

As per the threat assessment report prepared by central security agencies, Kangana may face danger to her life from narcotics syndicates and other hostile elements for speaking against them, an official told PTI.

Under the Y+ security category, Kangana will be protected by around 10 or 11 armed commandos, who will be present around her in shifts round the clock. Two or three armed personal security officers (PSOs) will also accompany her whenever she gets out, while the others will guard her residence, PTI reported quoting officials.

The officials further told PTI that the personnel will have “access control” to everyone who enters or exits her residence. She may also be provided with a vehicle.

In India, the CRPF provides its services to high-profile dignitaries like Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka.

Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani are also guarded by the paramilitary force. While Nita gets Y+ category security, Mukesh gets the Z+ one. However, they pay a certain amount to the government for this.
