South Indian actor Meena’s husband Vidyasagar died in a private hospital in Chennai where he was reportedly undergoing treatment for COVID-19. The couple has an 11-year-old daughter named Nainika.

Vidyasagar was a businessman based out of Bengaluru. He married the actor in 2009. He has been suffering from severe lung infection for a few months and under treatment for the same when he passed away. 

“It is shocking to hear the news of the untimely demise of Actor Meena’s husband Vidyasagar, our family’s heartfelt condolences to Meena and the near and dear of her family, may his soul rest in peace,” tweeted actor Sarathkumar.

Born in Chennai in 1976, Meena started her career in the movie industry as a child artiste after Sivaji Ganesan spotted her at a birthday party. She made her debut with the 1982 movie ‘Nenjangal’, which starred Ganesan in the lead role. She also acted with Rajinikanth in two movies namely Engeyo Ketta Kural and Anbulla Rajinikanth.

After appearing in over 45 films as a child, Meena went on to become a successful actor, playing lead roles in several hit movies in the 90s and the late 2000s. 

She has acted with various star actors across languages, including Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammotty, Chiranjeevi and Dr Vishnuvardhan

She will next be seen in Drishyam’s remake in Telugu with Venkatesh.

Her son Nainika also followed her footsteps and made her on-screen debut as a child actor in the movie ‘Theri.’
