Starring Telugu star Prabhas and Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, the multilingual period saga ‘Adipurush’ will be releasing in theatres across the country on August 11, 2022.

An on-screen adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana, the film will be shot in Hindi and Telugu, and follows Raut’s previously released blockbuster movie ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’.

‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas will play the role of Lord Ram, while Saif Ali Khan will play Lankesh. Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, the film will also be dubbed in Tamil, Marathi and Kannada, and other foreign languages. The tagline of the film (as seen in the recently released poster) reads, “celebrating the victory of good over evil”. Currently in the pre-production stage, filming of the movie will begin in January 2021.

According to Raut, Prabhas was “perfect” for the lead role in the movie. “His entire persona, the calmness that he has. His eyes are so deep, his stance, the way he carries himself, his entire personality. I could see ‘Adipurush’ in him and if it wasn’t him, I wouldn’t have made the film,” Raut had said to PTI.

Following the announcement of the film in August, Prabhas had said, “Every role and every character comes with its own challenges, but portraying a character like this comes with tremendous responsibility and pride. I am very excited to portray this character of our epic, especially the way Om has designed it. I am sure the youth of our country will shower all their love on our film.”
