Brahmastra, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, made a theatrical release on September 9, 2022. To some, the movie is the best Indian film ever made in terms of visual effects and actions. To others, it is a dull affair. 

Namit Malhotra, CEO of Oscar-winning graphic firm Prime Focus revealed that Ayan Mukerji’s movie features 4,500 visual effects (VFX) shots. He stated, “In comparison to Avengers: End Game’s 2,400 VFX shots, Brahmstra: Part One Shiva boasts over 4500 VFX shots, making it a potential record holder for the most visual effects in any film globally.”

Upcoming Indian movies to have VFX. 

1. Adipurush 

Adipurush is an upcoming Hindu mythology film based on the epic Ramayana. The movie stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan. The movie is made on a budget of Rs 500 crores. 

As per reports, the movie directed by Om Raut of Tanhaji fame will use three times more VFX than actor Prabhas’s movie, Baahubali. As per News18, Adipurush will use 8,000 VFX shots. The film is scheduled to be released on January 12, 2023.

2. Salaar 

Salaar is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action thriller. It stars Prabhas as the titular character alongside Prithiviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Hassan, and Jagapathi Babu. Salaar reportedly employs Dark Centric Theme (DCT) technology to shoot the film, making it the first Indian movie to do so. The movie’s lightning pattern will have dark shade visuals. The DCT has been used in Hollywood movies including Batman Trilogy, Matrix, and Tenet. 

3. Ponniyin Selvan: I

Ponniyin Selvan is an upcoming Indian Tamil language epic period action film directed by Mani Ratnam. The movie will star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and R. Parthiban. The first part of the movie is scheduled to make a worldwide theatrical release on September 30, 2022. As per reports, the movie competes for its VFX effects with Baahubali.

4.  Krrish 4 

Reports have confirmed that the fourth part of the franchise is in the pre-production stage and will be directed by Rakesh Roshan. As per a Filmfare report, Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies VFX has been asked to do the visual effects for the film. On the completion of 15 years of Krrish, Hrithik Roshan teased Krrish 4 via his social media handles on June 23, 2021.
