This new show will focus on the main antagonist from the ‘WandaVision’ television miniseries, Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch accused of practicing dark magic by her own coven during the Salem Witch Trials. In the show, Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, is drawn to the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff played by Elizabeth Olsen.

Throughout the show, Harkness appears as a friend to the mentally disturbed Maximoff following the death of her partner, The Vision. However, towards the end of the miniseries, it is revealed that Harkness was secretly manipulating the ‘show within the show’ in an attempt to harness Maximoff’s powers. In the end, Harkness is defeated and is enchanted to behave like the nosy, friendly neighbour she had posed as when WandaVision started.
Details of what the plot looks like aren’t clear yet, as the show has just been announced. However, Hahn will be reprising her role as power-hungry witch. In addition, head writer for WandaVision, Jac Schaeffer will be returning and this time around, he’s set to executive produce the series. Hahn’s performance in WandaVision garnered critical acclaim as she made audiences laugh and cry out in shock in equal measure.

While the word ‘coven’ is included in the show’s title, there’s no knowing if the Scarlet Witch will be making a return. The last we saw of her was pulling down Mount Wundagore on herself as she destroyed the Book of the Dead towards the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
The show is part of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
