Fans of Star Wars have been waiting a very long time for an Ahsoka Tano show. Ahsoka’s journey has been a high-climbing roller coaster with high highs (becoming one of the franchise’s most beloved and developed characters) and low lows (receiving extremely contentious fan reactions) since her debut as Anakin’s youthful Padawan in the animated series The Clone Wars, George Lucas’s final Star Wars project.

The character was created by artist Dave Filoni, currently executive creative director of Lucasfilm, and originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Since her creation, the character has been taken through numerous Clone Wars seasons to Star Wars Rebels and most recently into the world of The Mandalorian as he and his Ahsoka, who is now portrayed by Rosario Dawson, the transition from animation to real action.

Here is all the information we currently have about the highly anticipated Star Wars series.

Release date

The live-action series from Filoni won’t premiere until at least next year, along with the third season of The Mandalorian, though no specific release date has been given. Dawson informed the crowd that she had just arrived from the Ahsoka set to be at the Anaheim convention for the Mando+ panel during the Star Wars Celebration in May 2022. Therefore, it is generally safe to assume that Ahsoka will be made available on Disney+ following the February 2023 launch of The Mandalorian season 3.

Cast

At the Star Wars Celebration, Dave Filoni formally revealed Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s addition to the cast as Sabine Wren, another well-known Star Wars Rebels character (voiced by Tiya Sircar).

Additionally, Ezra Bridger will make his live-action debut in Eman Esfandi’s The Inspection after making an appearance in Star Wars Rebels (previously voiced by Taylor Gray), according to Cinelinx, which broke the news first.

Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno have been confirmed for the series by The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. While Sakhno’s part is uncertain, Stevenson is reportedly portraying a villain who may be an admiral for the nascent First Order. According to THR, there are also whispers that Hayden Christensen would play Darth Vader again for Ahsoka.

In October 2021, shortly after the news aired, Dawson left a comment on her Instagram with the phrase “Skyguy … They know!!! See you soon, Snips.” Skyguy and Snips are their respective characters’ nicknames in The Clone Wars, and she promptly deleted the post. Dawson later revealed to Vanity Fair for its June 2022 Star Wars cover story that she removed the post as a result of receiving an email from Star Wars HQ stating, “You might want to take that down.”

However, Dawson may not be the only one who slipped up. In the VF cover story, Ewan McGregor casually stated that his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, will be a part of Ahsoka. He revealed that “My partner, Mary, is doing that Star Wars series with Rosario and she’s about to start.” Nevertheless, McGregor didn’t go so far as to reveal who she’ll play. Chopper the droid will also make his live-action debut.

Plot

Ahsoka’s story has mostly remained a secret until a video shown at Star Wars Celebration verified fan theories. Ezra Bridger is being sought after by Ahsoka and Sabine!  Fans saw Ahsoka enter a ship that was extremely similar to the Ghost as she passed by an obscured character with green head tails, who is most likely Hera, the Rebels pilot who fans have speculated may be played by Winstead.

This brief teaser was only presented to the Mando+ panel attendees. The clip concluded with Ahsoka standing in front of the Rebels mural as Sabine from Bordizzo entered to join her. What does this even mean if you don’t know anything about Rebels? Also Ezra?

The Ghost crew and the Empire engaged in a significant battle in the Rebels animated series finale. By using some Purrgil space whales to launch himself and Grand Admiral-blue Empire baddie Thrawn into space, protagonist-Jedi Ezra saves his world and his friends.

Since the show’s 2018 season finale, viewers have been anticipating a follow-up programme featuring Sabine and Ahsoka searching for Ezra. Now that Esfandi has been chosen to play the beloved missing Jedi, Ahsoka’s puzzle is coming together.

Where does the show fit in the Star Wars timeline?

The new Ahsoka series will most likely pick up after her appearance in The Mandalorian season two, even though Star Wars Rebels takes place roughly five years before the events of A New Hope. Five years have passed since the events of Return of the Jedi when the Mandalorian series begins.
