Who is Marrok?
Among the fresh characters is the elusive Inquisitor Marrok, a figure shrouded in mystery. Armed with a unique double-edged spinning red lightsaber and clad in black attire with a concealed face, Marrok’s background and motives remain a puzzle.
The character is unveiled as a former Imperial Inquisitor and Jedi hunter, now seemingly transformed into a mercenary for hire. Marrok’s dark endeavors are carried out alongside figures like Morgan Elsbeth, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hati. The character’s striking appearance and imposing weapon make them stand out, but their exact role within the show remains uncertain.
According to StarWars.com, Marrok’s official character description sheds light on their evolution: Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt.
Marrok makes subtle appearances in the background of Ahsoka episode 1, and in episode 2, engages in a brief duel against Ahsoka on Corellia.
The role of Marrok is portrayed by Paul Darnell, though it remains uncertain whether the character will ever be unmasked, adding to the aura of mystery.
Among the theories circulating within the Star Wars fandom is the possibility that Marrok could be Ezra Bridger, the Jedi Padawan who disappeared into the Unknown Regions at the conclusion of Star Wars: Rebels. Speculation also points to Marrok potentially being Galen Marek, aka Starkiller, the protagonist of the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Another intriguing hypothesis suggests Marrok might even be Bariss Offee, Ahsoka’s former friend turned adversary.
