Alia Bhatt, the Bollywood star, makes her English language debut in a major studio movie, as she joins Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan for the international spy thriller, ‘Heart of Stone’, Deadline reported.
The Netflix movie is being directed by Tom Harper, and the script comes from Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder. Skydance is also involved in the project with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger producing.
For now, the plot is being kept under wraps, but Deadline has reported ‘Heart of Stone’ has been a Netflix priority since it won the project in a competitive auction back in January 2021.
The ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘ actress has quickly established herself as a powerful actor in Indian movies with titles like ‘Highway’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’ to her name. She also appeared in ‘Gully Boy’, which made its premiere at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival and was India’s official submission in the Best Foreign Film category at the Oscars.
Meanwhile, Gal Gadot, who rose to fame for her portrayal of Wonder Woman, and Jamie Dornan, who’s known for his ‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy, round out the star-studded cast.
Gadot, who recently appeared in the Netflix movie, ‘Red Notice’ revealed that filming for ‘Heart of Stone’ has already commenced. She posted a couple of images on Twitter, saying “Rachel Stone. Nice to meet you”.
Obviously, we now know that the title of the movie is a direct reference to the protagonist’s last name.
As for Bhatt, she will next be seen in ‘Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani’, a comedy film from Karan Johar, who’d given Bhatt her big Bollywood break in ‘Student of the Year’. In the upcoming movie, Bhatt appears alongside Ranveer Singh and Preity Zinta, in a story that centres around a guy from North India who falls in love with a girl hailing from the southern part of the country.
