In Avatar 2, released as Avatar: The Way of Water, which takes place over ten years after the events of the first film, Jake and Neytiri depart the woodlands they call home for the seas of the Metkayina clan in search of safety from the RDA and Quaritch, who has been reincarnated as an Avatar hybrid.

There was a lot of death in Avatar, including the passing of Sigourney Weaver’s Grace, Michelle Rodriguez’s pilot’s fiery demise, and the thousands of Na’vi killed during the demolition of Hometree.
Who dies in The Way of Water? Although the teasers for Avatar 2 portray a calm and beautiful world, the film’s plot contains much tragedy.
Neteyam, the oldest son of Jake and Neytiri, is the main character to die in Avatar 2. While attempting to flee the RDA’s boat with Lo’ak and Spider, he is shot and murdered by Quaritch.

They all exit the vehicle, but as they ascend to the surface, Neteyam admits that the bullet wound is causing him to haemorrhage and have breathing problems. He is hurried back to land, but he passes away in Jake and Neytiri’s arms.
There are other fatalities as well. Scoresby, the evil Tulkun whaler, receives his just desserts when the cord of his explosive harpoon rips off his arm. In the climactic battle, every recombinant save Quaritch perishes, and numerous RDA members are crushed, impaled, shot, or drowned.

While the movie appears to play with the concept of killing off Jake, and the trailer seemed to imply that Neytiri might also perish, the main characters live to fight another day. Neytiri is scheduled to be in Avatar 5, thus, according to producer John Landau, we shouldn’t anticipate her passing anytime soon.
“In Avatar 5, there is a section of the story where we go to Earth. And we go to it to open people’s eyes, open Neytiri’s eyes, to what exists on Earth,” he said in an interview with Gizmodo.
