Amber Heard has revealed a disturbing detail about her tumultuous marriage with actor Johnny Depp in a recent deposition. The actress alleged that she and Depp had a name for his “abusive alter ego” – they called it “the monster.” This revelation is part of a 471-page deposition that delves into their relationship during the years 2015 to 2017. Heard recounted instances of abuse, stating that the two-year marriage left her feeling battered and exhausted.

The Hollywood Reporter unveiled excerpts from the deposition, where Heard detailed incidents of physical abuse. She alleged that Depp threw a phone at her face and struck her on multiple occasions while they were at their California home. However, Depp strongly denied these allegations, presenting an alternate version of events where Heard was portrayed as the aggressor.

During a divorce deposition in 2016, Heard revealed to Depp’s attorney, Blair Berk, “Johnny and I refer to his other personality, the part of him that is present when he beats me up — we call that the monster and have called [that] the monster for many years.” She expressed being terrified of this aspect of Depp’s behavior.

The deposition went on to detail a specific incident where Depp allegedly brought two security guards with him to an apartment out of concern for Heard’s behavior. Depp acknowledged throwing a phone at Heard but vehemently denied ever hitting her.

Heard was found guilty of defaming Depp, leading her to pay him $10 million for lost wages, while Depp was ordered to pay her $2 million for defamatory statements made by his former lawyer, Adam Waldman. Although both parties initially appealed the verdict, Heard later waived her appeal in December 2022.
