Silk Sonic’s Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak kicked off the 2021 American Music Awards off Sunday on a R&B funky pre-taped note with their “Smokin Out the Window” and host Cardi B in a fur headdress revved up the crowd, admitting she was sweating.
“I’m a little nervous,” the host told the Associated Press after listing all the performances planned. “We’re going to celebrate everybody.”

Taylor Swift broke her own record for most AMA wins by bagging the award for favourite female pop artist prior to the start of the show. Doja Cat, with three awards, and Meghan Thee Stallion, with two, were also pre-show winners.

Olivia Rodrigo, BTS and Coldplay, Megan Thee Stallion, Chlöe, Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, Mneskin, Tyler, the Creator, Walker Hayes, Bad Bunny with Tainy and Julieta Venegas, Kane Brown and Walker Hayes are among the other performers. Furthermore, Diplo is serving as the show’s first-ever musical curator, DJing the event all night long.
The ceremony is being aired live on ABC at 8 pm PT from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, and it is also being streamed on Hulu.
