The American Music Awards will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20 at 8 p.m. E.T. Fans can also stream the show live via ABC.com and the ABC App.

This year, the AMAs added or revived six categories – favorite K-pop artist, favorite Afrobeats artist, favorite rock song, favorite rock album, favorite touring artist and favorite soundtrack. This year marked a breakthrough for K-pop and Afrobeats, which did not have AMAs categories dedicated to them previously.

Bad Bunny is the top nominee, with eight nominations, including his first nom for Artist of the year. Beyoncé, Drake and Taylor Swift are close behind with six nominations each to their name. Adele, Harry Styles, The Weeknd and Future each have received five nominations.

Nominees have been based on important fan interactions- which are reflected on the Billboard chart standings, like streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses.

The American Music Awards are voted on entirely by fans, unlike other Award shows like the Grammy Awards, where strictly only the members of the Recording Academy can cast their vote.

Nominations for the 2022 AMAs were announced on this Thursday, October 13. Fan voting is now open in all but one of this year’s 37 categories. Voting in the category of favorite K-pop artist will open from November 1.

How can you vote?

There are two methods by which fans can vote for the AMAs:

1.   Web voting

2.  Twitter voting.

Web voting- Fans can go to the AMAs website at VoteAMAS.com and place their votes.

In Twitter voting, fans must include the following in a tweet from a public Twitter account:

For Artist Categories: The Artist name, the award category name and #AMAs

For Song Categories: The Song title, the award category name and #AMAs

For Album Categories: The Album title, the award category name and #AMAs

For example: A valid Twitter vote would be- “I’m voting for [name of an artist] for artist of the year at the #AMAs!”

A good news for the fans is that the re-tweets of valid votes also count as a vote. Fans must keep in mind that they may only cast a vote for one category and one nominee per tweet.
