The official trailer for Ryan Murphy’s true crime series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has just been released. It stars American Horror Story alum, Evan Peters, in the titular role.

The 10-part limited series is based on the true story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who brutally killed 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. The series will have the story of Dahmer’s crimes told through the eyes of his victims and will take place from the 1960s to the early 1990s. Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story will also investigate the Wisconsin police’s ineptitude during the murder investigations, which allowed Dahmer to continue his killing spree.

Dahmer has cemented his place in history as one of the deadliest serial killers to operate in the US. Here is a list of five notorious serial killers who operated in the country-

Albert Fish

Albert Fish was a violent psychopath who was convicted of raping, killing, and cannibalising three children at the beginning of the twentieth century. His victim count is assumed to be much higher. Fish claimed that he had attacked at least a hundred more children in similar ways. However, these claims could not be verified. at least a hundred more He is best known for his numerous nicknames. In chilling detail, he also sent a letter to one of the victim’s mothers, describing his murder of the young girl in horrific detail. Fish is infamous for having multiple nicknames in popular lore. He was known as “The Brooklyn Vampire”, “The Werewolf of Wysteria,” “The Moon Maniac,” “The Boogey Man,” and “The Gray Man.”

Ted Bundy

One doesn’t have to be an American or a child of the 1970s to be familiar with Ted Bundy. Bundy was one of history’s most heinous serial murderers. His method of operation included abduction, raping, and decapitating his female victims. He frequently kept their heads as mementoes. 

Bundy publicly acknowledged that he had kidnapped and murdered 30 women before his execution in 1989, though the number is suspected to be greater. Numerous films and TV shows have been made documenting his crimes and the investigations against him.

Jeffrey Dahmer

Also known as “The Milwaukee Cannibal”, Dahmer was found guilty of killing 17 young men over the course of 14 years. However, he did more than just kill his victims. He also raped, disembowelled, and occasionally ate his victims.

During court proceedings, he revealed that he had drilled holes into the heads of his victims in order to turn them into sex slaves. He was lynched to death in prison in 1994 by other prisoners. 

Joseph DeAngelo Jr.

Former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo is suspected of being the “East Area Rapist”, also known as the “Golden State Killer.“ This killer went on at least three murderous rampages from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.

DeAngelo confessed to killing 13 people of first-degree murder and 13 counts of abduction in June 2020 as part of a deal to avoid the death sentence. He was sentenced to multiple consecutive life imprisonment sentences, with no opportunity for parole.

“I’ve listened to all your statements, each one of them, and I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt,” DeAngelo was quoted as saying later.

Ed Gein

Ed Gein is said to have inspired films like Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He was born and raised in Wisconsin, leading a solitary existence. His father was an alcoholic and drug addict, while his mother was strict, indoctrinating him with a fear of women and sex. 

Gein used dismembered bodies of people to create furniture and clothing. The majority of these items were made from bodies he dug up from cemeteries. Ed Gein was found to be suffering from schizophrenia and spent his final years in a psychiatric ward due to his mental illness.
