Diego Luna and executive producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed the final trailer for Andor, the Rogue One spinoff series, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, ahead of its September 21 release.

“We’re going to go back five years before Rogue One and you won’t believe where you find these characters. You’ll see Cassian and not believe he was able to do what he did in Rogue One. It’s about a revolutionary and bringing change and hopefully a story you will love to watch”, Deadline reported them saying.

The trailer begins with Stellan Skarsgård’s character, Luthen Rael, extending a proposal to Luna’s Cassian Andor that spies, saboteurs, and assassins have all done terrible things for the Rebellion, and “You’ll ultimately die fighting these bastards. Wouldn’t you rather give it all at once for something real?”

Not much about Rael is known at this moment, but his character seems to be willing to go to desperate lengths, believing that everything is at stake. Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera tells Rael that he’s starting a war. Skarsgård’s character believed to be a wealthy private citizen, seems to enlist the help of both Andor and Gerrera, the Clone Wars veteran who leads the insurgency group, Partisans. And thus, Andor seems to get sucked into the initial stages of the rebellion, as the last bit of the trailer sees the character flying a spaceship and trying to avoid enemy fire.

Andor is a Lucasfilm spy thriller, that spans two 12-episode seasons, and tells the story of how Cassian Andor became a rebel hero. It shows the Star Wars universe from the perspective of regular people whose lives have been impacted by the Empire.

Three episodes of Andor will drop together and the events of the second season will lead to what happens in Rogue One, the 2016 box office hit.
