Popular British band Duran Duran revealed on Saturday, November 5, that former member and guitarist Andy Taylor is battling prostate cancer currently. The unfortunate news was part of the speech the band delivered as they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.
While other members of the band were present at Saturday’s ceremony, Taylor remained absent. Duran Duran went on to produce a special mini-concert of their most popular songs at the ceremony.

The new wave band was termed the Fab Five by Rolling Stone once and was admitted in the Hall of Fame after receiving the most votes in what was the maiden nomination. Duran Duran also joined Dolly Parton, Eminem, Carly Simon and others in the Hall of Fame in 2022.
A statement issued by Andy Taylor was made available on the band’s website, where the 61-year-old revealed that the cancer is not threatening his life currently, but is not treatable.
“Although my current condition is not immediately life threatening there is no cure,” the statement read.
“Recently I was doing okay after some very sophisticated life extending treatment, that was until a week or so ago when I suffered a setback, and despite the exceptional efforts of my team, I had to be honest in that both physically and mentally, I would be pushing my boundaries,” Taylor added.
The former member of the band also said that he, along with other band members led a privileged life.

“We’ve had a privileged life, we were a bit naughty but really nice, a bit shirty but very well dressed, a bit full of ourselves, because we had a lot to give, but as I’ve said many times, when you feel that collective, instinctive, kindred spirit of creativity mixed with ambition, armed with an über cool bunch of fans, well what could possibly go wrong?” he continued.
Duran Duran was created in 1978 in Birmingham, England. Andy Taylor became a member of the band two years later, in 1980, with lead vocalist Simon LeBon.
