Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and director-actor Anurag Kashyap on Sunday engaged in a war of words on Twitter, where both made remarks over ‘Oscars’, took a dig at each other’s age and their journey in the film industry.

The spat, however, was said by many people as a “creative way” to promote Kapoor and Kashyap’s upcoming movie “AK vs AK”, in which both are pitted against each other. The movie, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, will be released on Netflix.

It all started after Kapoor posted a congratulatory tweet for his ‘Dil Dhadhakne Do’ co-actor Shefali Shah after her Netflix series ‘Delhi Crime’ won Emmy Awards.

Kapoor wrote, “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again because they absolutely deserve it! Congratulations to the #DelhiCrime team! Nice to finally see more of our people get international recognition.
@ShefaliShah_ #WelcomeToHollywood.”

The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director took a jibe on Kapoor on this tweet and wrote, “Nice to see some deserving people get international recognition. Waise, aapka Oscar kidhar hain? No? Achha… nomination?”

Soon after, the Twitter war between the two started. Kapoor hit back at Kashyap and said, “The closest you have come to an Oscar is watching Slumdog Millionaire win Oscars on TV. #TumseNaHoPayega.”

48-year-old Kashyap replied to this asking Kapoor whether he was “the second choice for this film.”

“Hand-me-down or pick-me-up: I don’t care. Work is work,” Kapoor hit back at his ‘AK vs AK’ co-actor.

The spat went on for a long, see the full thread here:

After this, Kashyap took a jibe at Kapoor age saying all 40-year-old are not called vintage but some are also called “khatara.”

To this, Kapoor told Kashyap on Twitter that his car never came out of the garage.

Kashyap hit back at Kapoor saying that if the car is of Race 3, then, “it’s better that it stays in the garage only.”

This was seen as a promotional spat for Kashyap and Kapoor movie ‘AK vs AK’, in which the 63-year-old Bollywood actor is playing the role of a father whose daughter gets kidnapped by the 48-year-old, who is playing the role of a filmmaker.
