Four months after Barbara Walters’ passing, her longtime New York residence went on the market for a staggering $19.75 million.
The Upper East Side apartment has 11 rooms total, including a library, formal dining room, and dressing room. It is conveniently located near Central Park.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the magnificent apartment is housed in the white-glove cooperative 944 Fifth Avenue, which earned its moniker for providing superior service and requiring doormen to always wear white gloves.

Rooms

There are a total of 11 rooms in the Upper East Side apartment, including a library, formal dining room, and dressing room.

The 14-story skyscraper, designed in the Italian Renaissance palazzo style by architect Nathan Korn and constructed in 1925, has one level devoted to each apartment.

A baby grand piano, wood-burning fireplace, and stunning views of Central Park can all be found in the apartment’s living room.

The magnificent house also features two bedrooms, a formal dining room, and a spacious entry foyer with marble floors.

According to listing agent Alexa Lambert of Compass, the house is highly adaptable to include up to four bedrooms. It also has a red lacquer-finished library, dressing room, and bedroom, as well as gorgeous built-in wood paneling with floral designs throughout.

Little has changed in the house while Walters lived there, and artwork, antique furniture, and memorabilia from the late TV journalist’s life are still on display.

When Walters joined ABC in 1976 with an unprecedented $1 million salary, she became the first woman to host both a morning and an evening television news program. She had one daughter, Jacqueline Danforth, and was married four times, twice to television producer Merv Adelson.
