The BET Awards 2023 began on a bit of a sour note as fans complained of facing audio issues during the live broadcast of the red carpet of the event.
Fans of the event took to social media to voice their annoyance. One fan wrote, “The show hasn’t even started and it’s already a mess..what is going on with the sound?!!”
Meanwhile another fan said, “BET y’all the only award show that have sound issues and it’s only the preshow. Had me thinking it was my tv.”
Meanwhile, fans also saw the light side of the event as they shared some hilarious memes on the unforced error.
The Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles hosts the 2023 BET Awards. Previously open to the public, this year’s ceremony will only be attended by nominees and a small number of guests. As a result, viewers will need to watch the live broadcast to see the evening’s high-wattage acts and honors.
The ceremony will be streamed live at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on BET and simultaneously on Logo, MTV, MTV2, TV Land, and VH1. Through live TV streaming services like DirecTV Stream, FuboTV, and Sling TV, cable-cutters can also watch the event live and on demand.
With seven nominations, Drake leads the field going into the ceremony, including those for best male hip-hop artist, best male R&B/pop artist, album of the year, and viewer’s choice award.
GloRilla, who was recognized as a BET Amplified Artist last year, is in second place with six nominations, followed by 21 Savage and Lizzo, who each have five.
