Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, the Netflix follow-up to the hit action-comedy franchise Beverly Hills Cop, is in production. In this sequel, Eddie Murphy will be reuniting with the original cast of the Beverly Hills Cop film series- Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot. The producers have decided to name the film after Murphy’s idiosyncratic character in the movie.
The producers have not yet disclosed the final date for the release of this highly anticipated action comedy – Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Currently, there are no details of the movie plot. However, it is presumed that it will revolve around the character Axel Foley and his new crime adventures with his fellow cop friends, like in the original film series.

The American action comedy franchise released its first movie in 1984. This film features a street-smart Detroit cop Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy who travels to Beverly Hills, California with the aim of investigating a crime. He goes out of his jurisdiction and soon meets Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold), Seargent John Taggart (John Ashton), and Lieutenant Andrew Bogomil (Ronny Cox). The movie had sequels that came out in 1987 and 1994 as Beverly Hills Cop II and Beverly Hills Cop III.
The new movie is being directed by Mark Molloy, the screenplay is by Will Beall who penned Aquaman (2018). The story for the original Beverly Hills Cop was written by Daniel Petrie Jr.

In 2019, Netflix seized the opportunity when it bought the rights to release the next Beverly Hills Cop movie. Apart from this, Eddie Murphy is also to star in a holiday comedy Candy Cane Lane for Prime Video, produced by Amazon Studios.
