Big Pokey, whose real name is Milton Powell passed out on stage mid-performance in Beaumont, Texas. A video of the moment has gone viral on social media.

In the video the rapper was seen breathing heavily into the microphone in his hand as he addressed the crowd below before he lost consciousness and slammed down hard on the ground, flat on his back. He was barely able to move his arms and feet as struggled to breathe. A person off-camera was heard asking, “Is he alright?” A number of people rushed to his aid, including a security guard.

There is no word yet on his condition. According to unconfirmed online reports, the rapper passed out during his performance tonight in Beaumont, Texas, and the paramedics performed CPR on him and were unsuccessful. 

The rapper is rumored to have died during the performance after suffering a cardiac arrest. “RIP Big Pokey” has started to trend on Twitter. Some of the people also blamed the extreme heat in Texas as the reason the rapper collapsed on stage during his performance.

Pokey is associated with chopped and screwed music. He is one of the original members of the Screwed Up Click. He began rapping with Houston producer DJ Screw and DJ PRIMETIME in the early 1990s. He released songs on many of DJ Screw’s mixtapes. He was also featured on DJ Screw’s mixtape “June 27th Freestyle” which went on to become a landmark album in chopped and screwed hip hop.

Hardest Pit in the Litter, which was his first full-length album, appeared in early 1999. The next year he returned with D-Game 2000, which is another album pop of mid-tempo 808-driven beats. It featured several of his friends from Houston as guests.

Big Pokey collaborated with the Wreckshop Wolfpack for Tha Collabo in 2001. He then returned in 2002 with another solo album, Da Sky’s Da Limit. A clip of Pokey’s song, Who Dat Talkin Down was featured in the pilot episode of HBO’s Entourage in 2004.
