Comedian and writer Bill Maher is being trolled on social media after he announced that he will be returning with his talk show “Real Time” on HBO without writers as the writers’ strike still continues.

Bill Maher in a tweet announced his comeback. The tweet read, “Real Time is coming back, unfortunately, sans writers or writing. It has been five months, and it is time to bring people back to work. The writers have important issues that I sympathize with, and hope they are addressed to their satisfaction…..The show will not disappoint.”

Bill Maher will relaunch the production of his HBO program “Real Time” without the help of writers in a daring step. He took the risk to continue production despite the continuous Hollywood strikes led by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA, making him a pioneer among late-night TV hosts.

The version of “Real Time” created without writers, according to Maher, will differ dramatically from the program’s regular framework. “I will respect the spirit of the strike by not doing a monologue, desk piece, New Rules or editorial, the written pieces that I am so proud of on Real Time,” the actor declared. And I’ll be honest with you: the show I perform without my authors will not, period, be as good as our typical show,” he remarked.

As Maher announced the return of his show, he drew a lot of criticism. Several X users and firm supporters of SAG AFTRA supporters slammed him for his move.

One user wrote, “Bill Maher’s show’s has slowly been getting boring and unwatchable.. without his writers he will suck even more 🙄🙄🙄”
