Marvel phase four will conclude with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The sequel to the much successful 2018 film Black Panther follows the story of the Wakandans as they strive to keep their nation safe from intervening powers, while they grieve their king T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman) death. The plot was originally centered around T’Challa, but it had to be changed post the death of Boseman in August 2020.

The sequel will introduce a lot of new characters, which will grow significant to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the story progresses. One of them is Ironheart, introduced in the comics as a 15-year-old tech genius and a huge fan of Iron Man.
“I don’t want to put any spoilers out there… I know you all haven’t seen the film yet. I know the same for your audience. But yeah, there is a connection there between her and Tony,” said Ryan Coogler, the director of the film, in an interview.
Ironheart, whose real name is Riri Williams, is inspired by Iron Man and builds a suit of armor in her dormitory at MIT. This catches the attention of Tony Stark aka Iron Man, who later mentors her. Ironheart is a member of a group of young superheroes called The Champions, along with Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye.

Ironheart is a fairly recent addition to MCU but popular character nonetheless. She has appeared in three series of Iron Man comics, three series of Ironheart originals, several Marvel cartoons, and has her own animated special.
The film might delve deep into Stark and Williams’s relationship, as Stark supported her superhero journey in the comic books, though Robert Downey Jr. would not reprise his role as the much popular superhero, he last appeared in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Iron man died during the events of the Avengers: Endgame.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit the big screen on November 11, 2022.
