K-pop fans could not contain their excitement after it was announced that BLACKPINK is a possible headliner at Coachella 2023. 

April’s desert confab is also known to include Frank Ocean, who was originally slated for 2020. Other eclectic celebrities in the shortlist of possible headliners include Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Drake, Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo, blink-182, Travis Scott, Dua Lipa, SZA, Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Chemical Brothers, Paramore, Skrillex and Tyler, the Creator.

Fans of BLACKPINK just could control their glee as they took to Twitter to express their delight at the possibility of seeing their favorite K-pop band up on the stage. “@BLACKPINK is coming to dominate 2023 Coachella!” one of them said, while another noted, “BLACKPINK in 2019: Making headlines, being the most-mentioned artist at Coachella, big brand talking about BLACKPINK’s performances at Coachella, attracting local’s attention, and going viral for their stage presence. If they perform again in 2023 it’s gonna be insane.”

Another commented, “We don’t talk enough about how blackpink was only 2 years into their career with 13 songs yet was able to pull a crowd like this at Coachella and have everyone singing & dancing along to their korean songs like wow.”

A Twitter user stated, “As @HITSDD blackpink is a possible headline of Coachella 2023 OMFG.” One more noted, “BLACKPINK & DUA LIPA POSSIBLE COACHELLA 2023 HEADLINERS that means we might get kiss and make up live again.” Another quipped, “BLACKPINK will become the first K-Pop group in history to headline at Coachella.”

BLACKPINK has performed at Coachella once, in 2019. They were the first K-pop girl group to perform at the festival. It was the festival’s 20th anniversary. 

Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé took to the Coachella stage in April 2019, with a setlist. Kicking things off with DDU-DU DDU-DU and Forever Young, BLACKPINK also performed their iconic ‘Whistle’ and made sure to show off their Dua Lipa collaboration Kiss and Make Up.
