Blackpink star Rose became the first female K-Pop star to appear on the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday, making a statement with a chic black Saint Lauren dress with a white bow embellishment.

The 24-year-old stepped onto the red carpet alongside Saint Lauren creative director Anthony Vaccarello, accessorising her look with a choker and dangling earrings.

Fans on social media appreciated the Aukland-born singer-dancer’s historic appearance at the event, lauding her dress along with her feat.

“Fashion’s biggest night” Met Gala was hosted lated on Monday night at the New York’s Metropolitan Museum and a raft of stars dazzled at the event. This year’s official theme of the fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute was “American Independence,” leaving plenty of room for interpretation.

Among the key takeaways from the event, apart from that fact that Rihanna will always be the queen of Met Gala – fans thought she saved the night with a glamourous late appearance – is the huge statement sleeves with a splash of the stars and stripes.

The event was glittered with Hollywood celebrities, music icons, sports stars, fashion and business moguls and other big names. Billie Eilish lit up the evening with a magnificent ball gown, with fellow host Amanda Gorman dazzling in a cobalt blue custom Vera Wang with a diamond laurel wreath. 

Rihanna wore a huge black Balenciaga dress and a hat by A$ap Rocky in a multicolored quilted coat from ERL. She wore over 267 carats of Bulgari diamonds, including two choker necklaces.
