Britney Spears has announced the release date of her long-awaited duet with famous artist Elton John: August 26, two days before the MTV Video Music Awards. Spears announced the news on her official Instagram account. The blonde singer is known for decades of No. 1 hits, legendary duets, and an incredible sunglasses collection.
Elton John‘s Instagram post has a snapshot of the two as children, with the words Hold Me Closer. In the photograph, John is standing next to a piano. Spears’ first actual new record in over six years will be the duet. It will be a new version of John’s 1971 classic Tiny Dancer.
Her most recent album, Glory, was released in August 2016. Slumber Party, the second and final single from that album, was released a few months later on November 26 and swiftly rose to the top of the US Dance Club Songs rankings.

RCA Records unveiled three previously unheard recordings by the Womanizer musician in late 2020 as the #FreeBritney movement gained pace, but it turned out to be her final official release.
Although rumours of a possible collaboration between the two have been floating on social media recently, John did not confirm the existence of Hold Me Closer until a few weeks ago.

The 75-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner posted an Instagram photo with the title of the song and two emojis: a rose, which Britney Spears frequently uses, and a rocket, which is a homage to the Rocketman himself.
This will also be her official return to music following the conclusion of her protracted 13-year conservatorship. Spears recently hinted she may want to make music again — this time as a free woman — when she shared two videos on Instagram in July of her singing her milestone 1998 hit song Baby One More Time a cappella with some more adult lyrics, replacing “give me a sign” in the chorus with “give me a f—ing sign.”
Earlier this year, Spears married Iranian-American model Sam Asghari.
