As one of the funniest sitcoms on television, Brooklyn Nine-Nine offers something for everyone: inappropriate jokes, deadpan comedy, sarcasm, naivety, and running gags.

It’s tough to pick a favourite because each character has a humorous moment almost every episode; yet, some of the characters hit home runs more frequently than others. Here is a list of each main character on Brooklyn Nine-Nine:

Raymond Holt

Raymond Holt’s deadpan humour is flawless, making him hands down the best character on the show. His robotic nature is the root of his character, but it also manages to come off as subtle. The show would be absolutely nothing without his dog, Cheddar.

Jake Peralta

Jake Peralta, the show’s main character, is at the centre of almost every episode. Despite this, Peralta manages to be the lead character without becoming overbearing, unless that’s the joke. His complete inability to act like a grownup is perfectly matched by his incredible detective abilities and commitment to his job as a cop.

Charles Boyle

Charles Boyle, who is always unfortunate, needy, and naive, is one of the best-written characters on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. One of the strange qualities that make the character so lovable is his strange infatuation with the most unusual cuisine. When it comes to his pranks, he continually outdoes himself, and fans are always curious as to what piece of clothes he’ll pull from the lost and found next.

Amy Santiago

Amy Santiago is a well-used and well-written character who is hardworking, detail-oriented, and even obsessive. Jake’s crazy antics are balanced well by her, making their romance narrative a fan favourite. Her fondness for binders is endearing, even if jokes about her organising abilities maybe a touch heavy-handed. Still, she’s a sweet character that fans are always rooting for.

Hitchcock And Scully

Once Gina departs the show, the two move up to the top of the list, and they are well-deserving of it. The bumbling, lazy cops, who are constantly covered in crumbs, make for the perfect sidekicks to any of the main storyline jokes.

Gina Linetti

Gina Linetti made an impression on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, even though she’s no longer a main cast member. She transforms throughout her time on the show, from a precinct administrator to a social media star.

Terry Jeffords

Terry Jeffords is a wonderful parent, a diligent detective, and a yoghurt lover, all while presenting himself as the toughest man you’ll ever meet. He is an interesting character, with a lot of his comedy based on the contrast between his gentle nature and his bodybuilding figure.

Rosa Diaz

While Detective Rosa Diaz is a humorous character, her toughness may come off as overdone and forced at times. Her character is developed beyond her sexuality, and the plot concerning her bisexuality is well-executed. Her relationship with Adrian Pimento is also one of the greatest in the series, demonstrating the character’s emotional breadth.
