Shilpa Shetty’s husband businessman Raj Kundra was released from Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was granted bail by a Mumbai court on Monday in connection with the pornography case.
Raj Kundra was arrested as the key accused in a pornographic films case two months ago. Kundra was released from Arthur Road Jail after 11:30 pm, according to a jail official. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale allowed Raj Kundra’s bail application on Monday on furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000.

Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai police’s crime branch after being booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Wome (Prohibition) Act.

The 46-year-old businessman moved for bail on Saturday before the metropolitan magistrate. In his bail plea, Kundra’s lawyer Prashant Patil claimed that the prosecution has not been able to provide an iota of evidence that would connect the app ‘Hotshots’, used in the alleged porn films racket, with an offence under the law.

According to the the probe agency, the ‘Hotshots’ app was being used by the accused for uploading and streaming ‘obscene content’, reports PTI. Kundra further said that there was no evidence of him being “actively” involved in the creation of the allegedly pornographic content.

Raj Kundra’s associate and co-accused Ryan Thorpe, who was arrested along with him on July 19, was also granted bail by the court.
After Raj Kundra’s bail was allowed on Monday, Kundra’s spouse Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty shared a picture of a rainbow on her Instagram with the quote: “beautiful things can happen after a bad storm”. Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 along with 11 other people on charges related to creation of pornographic films.
