Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello recently opened up about her experience of being body-shamed and how she overcame her insecurities. In an interview with Bustle, the ‘Senorita’ artist recalled being targeted by trollers after an image of her in bikini went viral. She was on a vacation with partner Shawn Mendes at the time.

“The whole day I felt insecure. I felt like it was changing how I was thinking about food and eating … really messing me up,”  Cabello told Bustle.

However, the singer later shut down her body shamers in a Tiktok video but confessed that the comments and negative comments affected her and stung like a bee.

In the response video, the Havana singer slammed her critics by sharing how the trolls abated her self-confidence and she felt cautious stepping out with her stomach out.

“I wasn’t tucking it in, because I was running and existing like a normal person that doesn’t tuck it in all the time. And I was like, ‘Damn.’ But then I reminded myself that being at war with your body is so last season,” she added.

“I went to the airport and so many women came up to me and said they resonated with what I said and that it was a powerful message,” said Camila.

And then I actually feel my body insecurities went down after I posted that because I was like, ‘No matter what pictures come out or what people say, I’m now controlling the narrative,” she added.

Camila, who has been a body acceptance advocate, now feels confident in her skin and said that she is not interested in changing her body for her critics.
