Camila Cabello has announced that she will take a small break from social media, a month after she notified the world of her split with Shawn Mendes. Cabello put up an Instagram story, which reads “Going on a lil social media detox till the new year!!!! Just wanna spend a little less time on my phone this week x love y’all.”
While the ‘Senorita’ singer didn’t offer any reasons for this break, her 59 million followers will be waiting to see more posts from the star. Her last post, at the time of writing this, is dedicated to her mother, whose birthday coincides with Christmas.
Apart from her family commitments, the singer has also been busy due to professional engagements. She was part of the PBS special ‘In Performance at the White House: Spirit of the Season’. The former Fifth Harmony member belted out a mariachi rendition of the classic ‘I’ll be home for Christmas’.
At the time, Cabello noted that it was cool to be an immigrant family, and be present at the White House. She also spoke to PBS about her performance, saying, “My mom is a Cuban immigrant, my dad immigrated to the United States from Mexico and recently also became a citizen. The fact that I’m able to pay tribute to my heritage and represent Latinos and also have my dad be sharing this moment with me it`s kind of, like, a crazy moment”.

Cabello and Mendes’ split, after two years of dating, came as a shock to fans. A source close to the two had stated that Mendes initiated the talks, but Cabello was agreeable and realized it was for the best, though she was upset by the news.
In fact, after the couple broke up, Cabello tried an all-new look, stating that she cleaned up well enough. The singer did away with her signature hair colour for a mint shade.
Cabello pulled off the work by celebrity stylist Dimitris Giannetos, rounding up her outfit with a matching dress and nails.
