Chris Cuomos’s return to
cable news at primetime was a ratings disaster that put him last amongst his
rivals. Only 147,000 people watched the premiere of the former CNN star’s new
show, “Cuomo” on NewsNation on Monday night, according to the statistics
provided by Nielsen Media Research.

Cuomo performed poorly in the
25-54-year-old age category most desired by advertisers, attracting just 8,000
viewers. According to The Post, Cuomo is being paid an amount of $1 million a
year by the new network, way below his pay at CNN.

The audience for Cuomo’s show
in the 25-54 age range was less than that of the 7pm hour that was before his
show on NewsNation.

To make matters worse for
Cuomo, reruns of syndicated shows like Blue Bloods on NewsNation, along with
Paw Patrol, SpongeBob, Seinfeld and The Office all garnered a larger overall
number of viewers.

According to Nielson, Cuomo’s
old network coworker Anderson Cooper of CNN, secured the third position with
814,000 total viewers and 184,000 in the 25-54 age category.

With 151,000 total viewers,
Eric Bolling, a former Fox News host who now anchors The Balance on cable news
startup Newsmax, outperformed Cuomo with 151,000 total viewers of which 16,000
belonged to the 25-54 group.

The Post has sought comment
from NewsNation’s parent company Nexstar Media Group.

After he was terminated from
CNN, Cuomo is returning to primetime cable television after a gap of one year.

The former Cuomo Prime Time
anchor was fired by his boss back then – Jeff Zucker – after it was revealed
that he assisted his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in dealing
with sexual harrassment charges. On Monday, the 52-year-old NewsNation host
assured his viewers that he “learned lessons” from his CNN departure.

Cuomo has decided to be
unbiased in his commentary.
