The T20 World Cup fixture between Australia
and West Indies was the 38th match of the tournament and along with
quality cricket it displayed an unseen side of batting legend Chris Gayle. The
big hitter started off the match on a good note by smashing two deliveries out
of the park for sixes in trademark fashion. However, he could not convert the good
start into a big innings as he was dismissed by Pat Cummins on 15 runs scored in
9 balls.

In the second innings Gayle looked to be in
a playful mood as he came to bowl in the sixteenth over with the match all but
wrapped up in favour of the Australians. The big man ended up picking up the
wicket of Mitchell Marsh who had been batting on 53 runs with a strike rate of
165.63.

The power hitter jumped on Marsh’s back
after dismissing him and then went on to check David Warner’s pockets in the
middle of his over.

While the funny incidents left most of the
cricket lovers around the globe with a good taste a fan community that goes by
the name of ‘England’s Barmy Army’ took a moment to take a cheeky dig against Australia’s
in form opener.

They wrote in a tweet, ‘Has Chris Gayle
just checked Warner’s pocket for sandpaper ?? #T20WorldCup”

The tweet was made in reference to an incident
that took place a few years back during a Test match against South Africa.
David Warner and then Australian skipper Steve Smith alongside Cameron Bancroft
were caught tampering the ball with a sandpaper on camera.

The three players were suspended from
taking part in any cricketing activity. Cameron Bancroft served a nine-month
suspension while Warner and Smith were made to sit out for a year each.

Since then, both of David and Steve have
managed to retake their place in Australia’s starting XI.
