Chris Hemsworth shares how 'Extraction 2’ is different from 'Extraction'
- The sequel to 2020's action thriller sees the Australian actor return as Tyler Rake
- Two things are different from the last film, he said from the Prague shooting location of the film
- The sequel is penned by Avengers: Endgame filmmaker Joe Russo
Actor Chris Hemsworth, who is returning as mercenary Tyler Rake in 'Extraction 2', shared a short video on Friday via the Russo Brothers Instagram account, with a caption declaring that the action sequel is “coming in hot…or actually, freezing cold.”
In the video, Hemsworth appeared, slightly bloodied, on a train with stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave, who helmed the 2020 hit.
“First day shooting on Extraction 2,” Hemsworth said in the video, adding that they are in Prague. “Two things are different from the last film. One: very very cold. Two: I’m alive. How? You’ll have to find out. Watch the movie. Stay tuned.”
'Extraction' was a story about Rake, an Australian black market mercenary who is enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an international crime lord.
The sequel is penned by 'Avengers: Endgame' filmmaker Joe Russo, who wrote the first installment.
The story will pick up immediately where the first one ended as we see Hemsworth's Tyler Rake seemingly escape the river he fell in. Plans for an 'Extraction' sequel were confirmed only a month after the film's debut and, in July 2020, Netflix revealed that the film had the best debut for the streamer's original movies with an audience of over 99 million in its first four weeks.
The American action thriller film is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman. The film's cast also features Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi and David Harbour.
