Christian Bale‘s first major Netflix Original movie The Pale Blue Eye will release in January 2023. The gothic horror movie is the adaptation of Louis Bayard’s novel of the same name and is  be written and directed by Scott Cooper, who is best known for making movies such as Crazy Heart, Black Mass and Hostiles.

Release date – 

The Pale Blue Eye will release in two installments. It will first release on December 23, 2022, with a limited theatrical release before landing globally on Netflix on January 6, 2023.

Cast – 

Christian Bale plays Augustus Landor, a detective who investigates the murders.

Harry Melling plays the role of Edgar Allan Poe in the movie. She is best known for appearances in numerous Netflix Originals such as The Queen’s Gambit and The Devil All the Time. 

Gillian Anderson, who appeared in Netflix’s Sex Education, has also been cast in an unnamed role.

Lucy Boynton also stars in the movie. She was seen in the Netflix horror Apostle.

Anglo-French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg will be making her Netflix debut in the movie. 

The movie also stars Robert Duvall, Timothy Spall, Lucy Boynton, Toby Jones, and Harry Lawtey in important roles.

Plot – 

The body of a young man is found swinging from a rope just off the parade grounds at West Point Academy in 1830. It is assumed to be a case of suicide. However, the following morning, someone enters the room where the body is laid and removes the heart. The Academy then calls on the services of Augustus Landor, a police detective from New York City who retired due to health reasons. He agrees to come out of retirement to investigate the case.

The movie’s budget is reported to be $70 million.
