Comedian and former host of The Tonight Show, Jay Leno, has been admitted to a hospital after he suffered serious facial burns in his Los Angeles garage where the 72-year-old keeps the numerous cars that he collects. He is currently admitted to the Grossman Burn Center.

Leno was in the garage, which is near Burbank airport, when one of the vehicles burst into flames and burned the 72-year-old comedian. After this incident, the comedian had to cancel his appearance at the Financial Brand Forum 2022 in Las Vegas.

After it was revealed that Leno will not be performing at the event, the forum sent out an email to attendees that read, “His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling,” further adding, “All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”

Reports suggesting that Leno had to cancel the show because of a “very serious medical emergency”, which he later reiterated in a statement to Variety, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

Leno, like fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld, is an avid car collector, and reportedly has around 180 cars and 160 motorcycles in his garage. He even appeared on the latter’s show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, where the two spoke about their love for cars.

Leno’s car collection includes not only luxury vehicles, but vintage models and old affordable models that are no longer being manufactured. He also hosted a show called Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC where he displays his collection and talks about the reasons behind why he obtained each of the vehicles. It has not yet come to light which car of the legendary comedian led to his accident.
