Dolly Parton is set to star in her own comic book with TidalWave Comics dedicating an issue of ‘Female Force’, a series that features inspirational women who have made a mark in their industry, to the 75-year-old country music icon.

This series has featured the likes of former First Lady Michelle Obama, US Vice-President Kamala Harris, music icon Cher and veteran actress Betty White. According to the statement, the edition featuring Dolly will hit the markets on March 31, in print as well as digital formats.

Written by Michael Frizell, Ramon Salas has provided the art this comic strip. Publisher Darren G Davis has said that their readers have lately been interested in something beyond superheroes, and popular female icons have been welcomed with much love.

“With Dolly Parton being among the most popular singer-songwriters of her time, selling over a hundred million records, and also reaching out to the marginalised with her amazing philanthropic work, she makes a great character for the comics.” said Davis.

Frizell has further added that working with Dolly has been really great. He says that her visualizations of the pages, her work that has influenced the comics in art, music and philanthropy is just truly admirable.

Dolly has won 11 Grammy Awards and has sold over 100 million records since her debut album hit the shelves in 1967.

Among Parton’s philanthropic work, is the Imagination Library which she started in her home state of Tennessee, her Dollywood Foundation started in 1988 and her donation of a million dollars to Vanderbilt University Medical Center which has helped create the Moderna covid-19 vaccine.
