Punjabi vocalist Deep Money is set to venture into Bollywood as an actor. In conversation with Hindustan Times, the 35-year-old singer shared his hopes of having more Punjab-based artists in the industry.

“There are some Sikh actors working in Bollywood, but I wish there were more. Diljit is doing so well, he is doing big films. Manjot Singh is also a very good actor. You have to be proud of your religion. I am proud to be a Sikh. Aunga toh main turban ke sath hi warna aisa kuch nahi hoga (I’ll come with a turban or else it just won’t happen),” he said.

Talking about actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh sporting a traditional turban in all his projects, he stated, “He is a living legend, he has been here for over 20 years. There is nothing like that. You need to carry it. Diljit paaji’s ‘Good News’ (2019) was so well received. You need to know how to carry it. Punjabis are taking over Bollywood. If you have talent no one can stop you.”

Sharing his plans, he added, “People like the style and attitude I carry in music videos. I am now starting my training, losing weight and getting fitter. I am looking forward to working in web series and films. I have to get lean now, that is my focus right now. I might shift to Mumbai very soon. I will do what people will enjoy. I will take up roles that will connect with me, even if I have to do one project per year, I will make sure that I give my all. I will also take up acting classes.”

In an interview with Hindustan Times last year, the ‘Dope Shope’ singer talked about his music journey. “I have been around for a decade. I have been consistent, collaborated with Bohemia, Badshah, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Raftaar, Kanika Kapoor and so many others. I have a great body of work and that was only possible because I am capable. I have sung for Salman Khan. People recognize my voice and that is my satisfaction. An artist spends his whole life establishing his identity and many fail to do so. I am lucky I could do it,” he said.
