‘Padmaavat’, a
controversial production by Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, completed three years of its release on Monday and the team described working
on the project as “an experience of a lifetime”.

Celebrating the
valour and grace of Rajput queen ‘Padmavati’, on whom the movie was based, Sanjay
Leela Bhansali production shared three videos from the making of the film on its Twitter
handle.

“Only flames of hardships can unleash a real diamond, such was the story of the making of Padmaavat. Let’s celebrate the journey that demanded performances, mega sets, and the Maestro who persevered throught it all to give the world Padmaavat. #3YearsOfPadmaavat” the team wrote.

The team also shared a farewell message delivered by lead actors Deepika Padukone who played the titular character in the movie and Ranveer Singh from the sets of Padmavat.

Clouded with

Padmini, the film from the onset of its making witnessed a number of hurdles,
from the director being assaulted and nationwide protests from Rajput groups, set vandalism to lead actor Deepika Padukone receiving threats of all kind, the film saw it
all.

The film, that
turned out to be one of the highest grosser of that year, finally released on
January 25, 2018 after undergoing a title change from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmaavat’.

Directed and co-produced
by Bhansali, the movie features actor Ranveer Singh as one of the antagonist ‘Alauddin
Khilji’, the powerful rulers of the Khilji dynasty who gets obsessed with Rajput
queen Padmavati, played by Deepika Padukone alongside  Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh, a Rajput ruler
and Padmavati’s husband.

Lead talent, Deepika
and Ranveer, who are now married to each other, also took to social media to
express gratitude towards Bhansali.

Ranveer also shared a behind the scenes video from the sets of Padmavat to mark the third anniversary of the movie.

for making me part of this spectacular vision #khilji,” he captioned the
post.” Singh wrote on Instagram.
