The Gray Man by the Russo brothers made some waves after it was released on Netflix, and many eyes went to Indian actor Dhanush, who plays Lone Wolf, an assassin in the movie. “My sexy Tamil friend”, Chris Evans’ Lloyd Hansen calls him. The 39-year-old has now confirmed he’ll return to The Gray Man movie universe in an audio clip.

Dhanush shared a post on Instagram, where Lone Wolf speaks to Sierra Six, Ryan Gosling’s character. He warns the former CIA asset that they are both looking for the same man and asks the resourceful American to back down. Lone Wolf or Avik San warns him that if he gets to him first, the person won’t be alive, and if Sierra Six gets to him first then Lone Wolf would come for him.

The actor captioned it saying, “The Gray Man universe is expanding and the sequel is coming… Lone Wolf is ready, are you?”.

The directorial duo who made their name with Marvel Cinematic Universe movies acknowledged the overwhelmingly positive feedback they’d received regarding Dhanush, with text messages saying they wanted more of the lone assassin. With Anthony and Joe Russo’s world-building capacity, as witnessed in the MCU, it’s not a stretch of the imagination that they’d manage a similar feat with The Gray Man, though perhaps not on the same scale.

They’d already hinted that they’d be glad to have Dhanush and the actor also expressed an interest in returning, saying all the Russo brothers had to do was pick up the phone and call him.

In an interview shared by Netflix, Dhanush also praised Gosling for making him feel welcome on set and the two share mutual respect for each other, as evidenced in their interaction on stage.

Lone Wolf made quite a mark in The Gray Man as an assassin who with great combat skills, who took on both Six and Ana de Armas’ Dani Miranda. Later, he also showed himself to be a man of principle, walking away from Hansen’s operation, saying that the people were without honour.

The Gray Man is now streaming on Netflix.
