Dhoomam is the next project from Hombale Films, the minds behind the extremely successful KGF:Chapter 2.

The production company announced its next venture on Friday with a poster which has the name of the film and the lead actor in a suit.

Production

The film will begin production on October 9 and will film for the next few months. Film producer Vijay Kiragandur who is working on the film told wire service ANI that the new project was based on a “new concept” and that the film would be an “amalgamation” of A-list actors who can “can create and weave magic together.”

Cast

Hombale Films has roped in a ensemble cast as well as a director who knows his way around a camera. Dhoomam is being directed by Pawan Kumar, of Lucia and U-Turn fame. Even though he started his career with Lifeu Ishtene, Lucia marked a turning point in his director in 2013. He followed up with U-Turn, cementing his fame in the south Indian film industry.

The cinematography is being done by Preetha Jayaraman while Poornachandra Tejaswi is taking care of the music. 

The production company has even brought in Fahadh Faasil whose 40 year career has spanned over 50 films and numerous film awards. He is expected to be taking on the lead role in the film. While he began his career with a box office bomb, since his return to the country in 2009, Faasil has gone from strength to strength.

The film also has national film award winner Aparna Balamurali in the female lead.

Release date

After a film wraps shooting, it goes to the edit table, where it spends a few months before finally being released. Hombale Films has projected a summer release in 2023. The film will release in four languages: Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telegu.
