Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor started dating in 2007 and their relationship was the talk of the town while it lasted.

Deepika got his initials tattooed on the nape of her neck during their relationship to symbolise their love for one another.

After seeing her tattoo, fans assumed that Deepika and Ranbir would get married. 

The two broke up after dating for two years later in 2009.

Stories surfaced stating that the split was caused by Ranbir’s adultery and Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor‘s dissatisfaction with Ranbir and Deepika’s relationship.

Internet users were left wondering what would happen to Deepika’s tattoo after their public breakup.

Deepika continued to show off her tattoo with her up-do hairstyles after their split.

She informed Karan Johar on ‘Koffee With Karan‘ that she had discussed the tattoo with Ranbir before getting it and that he was aware of it as well. But she is undecided about what she will do about it.

Although Deepika has never spoken about it in detail, many believe she has either had it removed or covered it up with makeup.

Deepika Padukone is a jury member at Cannes Film Festival and has been making fashion statements on the red carpet.

A few fresh photos and videos from the red carpet have gone viral, showing her tattoo to be exceedingly faint and light.

Post her wedding to Ranveer Singh, fans noted that her tattoo has only been getting lighter.  

Deepika started dating Ranveer Singh in 2012. The couple got married in 2018 in traditional Kokani and Sindhi ceremonies in Italy. While Ranbir Kapoor got married to actress Alia Bhatt in 2022 in a small ceremony with close family and friends in Mumbai.
